Eco-Synergistic Connections Program

Program Overview

The Eco-Synergistic Connections Program grant is designed to address the needs and improve the instruction of Emergents Bilinguals (EBs) by providing research-based professional development activities for educators in Bilingual, ESL, and other content areas teachers. The project also has a component to support the engagement of parents/families and communities through resiliency-building activities at home to facilitate educators’ proper and timely use of data to improve literacy for EBs. The project also seeks to foster students’ academic resilience and lifelong skills for their success through leadership and socio-emotional development in partnership with the following school districts: Forney ISD, Garland ISD, Richardson ISD, Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD, and Cityscape Schools.

Program Goals

In collaboration with the above-mentioned school districts, the Eco-Synergistic Connections Program will achieve the following goals through the Connecting Research, Pedagogy and Curriculum in School settings grant.

  1. Provide targeted and differentiated professional development activities for in-service teachers, pre-service teachers, school principals, and other educators (e.g., counselors, specialists, school psychologies and instructional coaches).
  2. Provide targeted and differentiated capacity building activities for parents to support parental engagement and to connect educational efforts with locally serving community organizations.
  3. Provide socio-emotional learning activities and leadership development to ELs within districts.
